![]() ![]() I have three HDX-500 (V1, V2) helicopters which are cloned of a JR Lepton helicopter, and they all fly very well. I bet some manufactures got the original drawing to produce a clone one. The current technology would produce a clone one to be identical with a geniune one. If you are not an extreme or a showed-off pilot, a clone would be okay for sport flying. obviously there are different opinions and ways to do this that add up differently, but this is the cheap way as i see it for someone not looking to break the bank or fly hardcore 3d. ![]() I didn't account for shipping cuz it''s different to everyone and recievers and lipos are basically a moot point across the board. if you go that route, you get this:įor a reciever ready 500, that's really not bad at all. the gt is meant for the less expensive electronics ie the $25 motor and the $16 servos and the $15 401b gyro, etc etc. I fly the align version myself, but i gotta say, if you're not really thrashing the birds, the gt will get the job done.Īlso, i think the poin that you're missing is this, why woud you put a motor in there that costs more than the entire heli kit. I dunno guys, i've seen the 500gt and it really doesn't look bad at all. Like eMikey said- it flys the same for most of us non-professional flyers. You can, but it wouldn't really be worth it. But if you are going to go with the HK500, don't throw 300 dollars worth of electronics at it. If you want a cheap alternative to do sport flying and mild 3D, grab the HK500 GT. If you are crazy about precision maneuvers, etc, grab the Trex. The HK500 GT is really just a cheap alternative for people like me who want to fly helicopters. I bought the 10 dollar servos off HC, along with the 20 dollar motor and 20 dollar ESC. I don't do outrageous 3D, and don't have the money to spend 75 dollars on just a motor. If you are going to spend the money on the individual components, just spend the extra money on the kit. If you are going to strap a 75 dollar motor in, with 50 dollar Futaba digital servos and flightpower Evo batteries, buying the HK500 GT is not worth it. I think you need to remember the point of a HK500 GT. ![]()
